5 Reasons to Celebrate Your Most Cherished Relationships with Photography

Life is all about creating memories with those we love the most, and this statement doesn't ring truer than this time of year with the holidays approaching. The Holiday season is the biggest time of year that we celebrate family and love. It’s when we build strong bonds with our families, helps us connect to history, and allows us to create new memories each year. But like every holiday, many families forget to capture the moments they build with their loved ones. And regrettably, they feel the pain of not having tangible reminders of the memories created. So be sure to take pictures or give them as a gift.

Thankfully we are ahead of the season, and you still have time to celebrate your relationships with photography. Photography is the best gift to cherish the relationships you value most - here are 5 reasons why.

Photography is the best gift

Every year as we approach the holidays, we always take a step back and think about love. Why? Maybe it’s the holiday rom-coms that flood Netflix in the fall or the eagerness to create feel-good memories on those cozy cold nights.

Whatever the reason, holidays foster that sense of love we share with everyone that makes us feel happy, supported, and seen. We love our friends, our family members, and even our animals. But instead of just basking in that feeling, why not capture it? Photography is evidence we exist in the world, and it’s the best way to remember the present moment forever. Think about it.

During every great experience, every moment you share, one of your first thoughts is to take a picture. You have a deep-seated feeling to ensure that moment becomes a tangible reminder, not just a fleeting memory. And your story with your loved ones deserves to be told, your love celebrated. So, let’s discuss the top reasons why photography is the best gift to cherish your relationships, especially for the upcoming holidays.

5 reasons to celebrate your relationships

1. Stopping time

No one said it better about the importance of time than John Green, the YA author of The Fault in Our Stars, “One day, you’re 17 and you’re planning for someday. And then quietly, without you ever really noticing, someday is today. And then someday is yesterday. And this is your life”.

We have all had moments like this. We look at our children and wonder how they grew so quickly. We look at our lives and wonder how we became adults, established careers, and lived our lives.

Because of this, we always feel like there isn’t enough time. We are all concerned about the valuable currency of time. And photography does just that - it does the impossible and stops time. It freezes that one moment, one feeling, and bond you share with your loved ones. It takes an experience and transforms it into a tangible gift you can cherish. Since our hourglasses are in constant motion, there is no better moment than today to celebrate the time you’ve shared and the lives you’ve created with the ones you love most.

2. Family portrait

It’s more than okay to want a family portrait. They're not cheesy. They're an investment that adds to your legacy, plus they're fun! They’re versatile, and you can use them for Christmas cards, a Christmas gift, create memories you all shared, or hang them on your wall or mantle. And every time you walk past your family portrait, you won’t be regretful you did it.

On the contrary, it will make you smile for organizing a time where you all, for one moment we're in the present moment together. No exams, no moments running out the door for a meeting, no arguments, no chores, just you and your relationships together for one portrait.

3. Importance of legacy

You, as you are today, exist because of a long line of generations who paved the way before you. They tirelessly fought for your rights, opportunities, and potential to live the life you have. It is through that continued generational love that you experience, breathe, and cherish the relationships you have today. And the loved ones that surround you are your family. They are your legacy.

But we aren’t able to document this generational love without the gift of photography. Photography is a historical movement that captures our relationships, past, present, and future - through each passing year. It’s a symbol of love that one day you can show your grandkids, and their grandkids, and so forth, to proudly represent the generational love your ancestral line carries.

4. Where is the mother?

I photograph mostly women. And one of the first things I ask is when was the last time you were professionally photographed? Most of the time it was their wedding or their office hired someone to come in and take headshots.

Where is your life captured? Do you only deserve to exist in professional images for your wedding or at your job? I think not. You are VALUABLE.

So, going back to the importance of time, tomorrow is never guaranteed. And one day, the roles will reverse, and your children will search your home for images of you.  They want a photo of you, and photos of you together. Therefore, don’t let decades go by where your triumphs, accomplishments, and strength as a mother go unhonored and unphotographed. Take a photo with your children and your family. Every mother deserves to be photographed, individually and collectively, alongside their loved ones.

5. Create another memory

Memories are never in surplus. We always want more. Every passing day provides ample opportunities to create new memories with your loved ones. And photography is no exception. But it delivers an added benefit; you receive a memorable experience with a tangible reminder.

At my studio, I never undervalue the importance of this reason. I love creating an experience for my clients. I even have a system that individually and collectively, creates a memorable experience for everyone involved.

The girls come in first to have a special day. Because let’s face it, this is the ultimate girls’ day out!  In the final 45 minutes of our time together, the boys and toddlers come in to get the epic family portrait. Not only do we capture those gorgeous family photos, but everyone leaves feeling seen, heard, valued, and beautiful. And that's photography at its finest. It reminds everyone they matter while creating a memory that celebrates the love they share with the people that matter most to them.

Celebrate your relationships

Photography is for everyone. It's for the best friends, the parents, the lovers, the siblings, the ones who love their animal babies, the soulmates, the grandparents…everyone. It’s a moment where you celebrate those you can’t imagine your life without - those you love with your whole heart every single day. And photography is the gift that keeps on giving.

Whether you want a family portrait, ensure your legacy lives on, have a mother-daughter shoot, or you simply want to celebrate that feeling of love, photography is always the answer. It captures that feeling of warmth, happiness, support, and feel-good emotions that make life worth living.

Above all, it's a tangible reminder you have to look back on and remember every memory, experience, and adventure you shared with your most cherished relationships. And the upcoming holidays are the best time to celebrate your relationships with photography.

I’m opening up my calendar, and let me tell you, spots book up fast! Everyone is eager to receive family portraits or take a few family photographs for the perfect holiday gift. So, save your spot, and book a consultation with me, and we will start the process. Your photography experience will celebrate the love you share with those who fill your heart the most.
